A little blurb about Germany
It isn't possible to describe in words all the wonderful things we were able to do and see while in Germany and Italy. First, though, I have to say that our trip would not have been possible or nearly as enjoyable were it not for my brother and sister-in-law, Frankie & Mandy, graciously opening their new home to us. The best part of the trip for me was being able to just hang-out and spend some wonderful family time with them and their precious little man Cooper. I could have stayed forever with them. They made Germany seem so welcoming. My favorite place that we visited was Garmisch because it was their home.
Don't' let the above statement fool you though about what we did on our trip. We crammed as much sightseeing and travel as possible, limited only by the spirits of Aidan and Ashley. We somehow managed a nice balance of hanging-out and kid friendly activities with true sightseeing. And when they had enough, they just crashed, in the car, on the tour bus or at home. And we went with it. I hope that they both remember what we saw, but more importantly what we experienced....the feelings and smells, the oldness and timelessness of the sights, the people, the languages, the confusions, the laughter and the tears, as so much more. I will have to go back sometime and tell all the funny stories. But for the record, it was all wonderful and we are so fortunate and blessed to have been able to experience it all!!!

Ashley is 3!!!!
Building up to her birthday, all that Ashley asked for was "fancy, fancy". And sometimes she would add "...with parfaits". She loves the books about Fancy Nancy and has just been very inspired. Although, I have to say, she isn't so overboard with it that it is sickening. She brings a nice balance to "fancy". For example, she loves her purple Dora gown but wears it with her soccer shin guards (Aidan's old ones). Or she loves to play with her ponies but they always go with the Thomas the train engines. What an imagination she has!!
So, her birthday was a perfect match to her personality. Fancy with balloons, ice cream parfaits, trains, princesses and a soccer ball. What more could a 3 year old ask for?
Happy Birthday my baby girl!!!!
We love you!
