Ashley is 3!!!!
Building up to her birthday, all that Ashley asked for was "fancy, fancy". And sometimes she would add "...with parfaits". She loves the books about Fancy Nancy and has just been very inspired. Although, I have to say, she isn't so overboard with it that it is sickening. She brings a nice balance to "fancy". For example, she loves her purple Dora gown but wears it with her soccer shin guards (Aidan's old ones). Or she loves to play with her ponies but they always go with the Thomas the train engines. What an imagination she has!!
So, her birthday was a perfect match to her personality. Fancy with balloons, ice cream parfaits, trains, princesses and a soccer ball. What more could a 3 year old ask for?
Happy Birthday my baby girl!!!!
We love you!

My Little Seed!
Aidan's class had their annual play today. They have been working so hard for weeks, even months. They wrote alot of the script, made most of their own costumes, worked on backdrops and props.... It was so cute to see it all come together. Everyone has been very secretive about what part they are playing and even what the play was about. Last night, after doing the play for other kids in the school, Aidan let the 'seed' out of the bag. He actually went thru most of the play by himself, acting out all the different characters. He did say his part was as a seed.
The play was based on the Frog & Toad series of books. Aidan was in the act where Frog gives Toad some seeds to plant in his own garden. The seeds wouldn't grow because Toad was yelling at them, so Frog suggests singing. As Frog sings his songs the seeds begin to grow and sing their own song, "Oh, what a beautiful morning".
Aidan was so cute as he crawled out on stage and 'laid in the dirt' with the other seeds (picture 1). He kept peeking up his head and waving to me. When Ashley saw him she squeeled "there's my Aidan, look mama, look, there's my Aidan". She was good as gold the whole time and enjoyed every bit of the play!
Pictures 3 & 4 are the kids all singing together. And then the last picture is Aidan with his good buddie, Julian. Julian is Aidan's 3rd year classroom guide. They have become great friends as they discovered they both love anything to do with Star Wars.
So it was a 'Wonderful Morning' and I couldn't be more proud of my little man!

What a difference a day can make. As the Kentucky saying goes "if you don't like the weather, wait a day!" And that's the truth. It is a balmy 65 degrees today. Ashley and I decided to have a picnic after a morning of outdoors fun....swinging, walking & blowing bubbles. It is hard to believe that 4 days ago it was -5 degrees when I took Aidan to school!
Our Ice Storm (and some snow)
Whew, what fun we have had in the last 2 weeks! First ice and lots of it, then bunches of snow on top. The first pictures are from the ice storm. We could barely walk, anywhere, not even in the grass, so the kids and Logan and Robin from across the street opted for driveway sledding. Which was plenty of fun! Once we got some snow and were able to get out a bit we did some real sledding. Ashley really loved it this year. In fact, she spent more time out in the snow than Aidan did. Aidan mostly wanted play with Logan and the two of them were content to play in the basement and stay warm and dry. But Ashley just loved the snow....snow angels were everywhere in our yard as well as sled tracks, tiny boot prints and a snowman or two. Thank goodness we had power and not too much tree damage. We were very lucky!
